I saw lots of guys on the internet saying they own perfect MaxiDAS DS708 and fell in love with it. Personally I am doubt their familiarity with the gadget. I am not an experienced mechanic but I am qualified to run a small business that deals with OBD2 scanner for five years. The Maxidas DS 708 is the only scanner I have used so I know it well.

The device is ideal for me because I can do everything with the help of it in my small shop. So far I have diagnosed BMW, Benz, GM,Toyota, Nissan (u name it) perfectly. I have reset airbag lights onToyota, Nissan and Ford. I have fixed ABS on Honda. I have not do bi-directional test on BMW body yet.

There is no user manual or instruction to figure out the variety car lists. For me it is sorts of easy job (I have been using it for five months almost everyday). But for personal car owners, it may need some time to find out.

No scanner is flawless. Something I have to mention is that maxidas ds708 main cable and OBD2 cable are the most frequently used accessories of DS 708. Overusing may lead to the damage of the cable. I prepared several set of main cable and OBD2 cable.

It works 98% of everything I need to and 2% I did not know it can do. Autel tech service said that it cannot re-flash GM BCMs but it worked on it surprisingly. It was no capable of doing Porsche when I purchased it. But I found it can work on Porches after I update the software 4months later. I am sure that I will meet more surprises in the future!

I was highly recommended by my good friend Tony to buy X-PROG Box ECU Programmer. He informed that I was quite lucky because the device has resealed to the latest version V5.48. The XPROG-box is a professional ECU chip tuning tool which projects a continuation of the project XPROG and now supports more  than  450 units (serial EEPROM`s, Microcontrollers (MCU),   Electronics Control Units (ECU),  DashBoards, Immobilizers, Calculators and others).  I was kindly noted that it can only work on Windows XP computer system and I must close all anti-virus software before connecting the device with my laptop. Otherwise the device would be damaged.

Tony said he had bought several items from www.xcardiag.com/ before. They offer professional technical service and fairly reasonable price. Tony warned me that if I try to use other version software (lower or higher) or try to update software or hardware, the hardware will be damaged. And the warranty failed. That is to say, I can ONLY use the CD software from their wedsite.

I think I had better do some work on their website before making a big decision.

My father got me a GM Tech2 (English version software32.007) auto Diagnostic scanner to celebrate my first father’s day. I recently put some time on it and find it work GREAT on my SUZUKI! The following parts are my real experience of the device.

GM Tech2 is configured with 3.8.8 backlit monochrome with full graphics capability: 320×240 pixels and capable of displaying up to 9 vehicle parameters at once. The large, easy-to-read backlit screen made me easy to carry out its functions. I could view the status of auto diagnostic tests as they run.

It allowed me to do on-board diagnostic on my car (can do all GM systems1992 thru current year according to the user manual). The removable hardware modules prevent the scanner from being obsolete. I had used RS232 & RS485 ports to connect future to my Tech 2 Flash. What I appreciated most was that Tech 2 has the ability to capture stored DTCs, Freeze Frame and Failure Record for later review. The authentic GM software would provide full bi-directional control when performing power train, chassis, and body diagnostics (I already tried them out).

A dazzling slogan caught my eye when I was surfing on the internet aimlessly yesterday afternoon. It is said “A MUST for anyone who owns or repairs a Peugeot or Citroen car.” Is it really a MUST? Who dare to make a mountain out of a molehill? Somehow I doubt that. I decided to deliberately put obstacles in its way. I clicked on the “Customer Service” of their website.

Me: Hello! What is the name of your “MUST”?

Customer service: Good afternoon dear friend. It is named a Lexia-3 V48 Diagnostic PP2000 V25 with Diagbox V7.24.

Me: No wonder you choose one word to replace such a long name. But what is “a Peugeot or Citroen car” mean? The device only works on Peugeot or Citroen?

Customer service: Yes. Lexia-3 interface works with both Peugeot and Citroen. It is compatible with most Citroen and Peugeot cars from 1995.

Me: What does it do or what’s the functions?

Customer service: The device can read identification, read fault codes, clear fault codes, auto scan, measured values, actuator test etc.

Me: Why do you declare it is a MUST? Does it mean that is it the best diagnostic tool for Peugeot/Citroen?
