BMW Scanner V2.20K+DCAN warns adapter not ready

Q: I just got my BMW Scanner V2.20 K+DCAN yesterday, and have tried to install it on my PC. But there is a problem – the tool warns “Adapter not ready” during the installation. The tool can recognize the driver. My computer system is winXP SP2. I have also tried to use it on my sons laptop with Vista system, and it does not work as well. I have taken pictures of the problem as shown below. Can anyone tell me what could be the problem?
